There are always plenty of shinies to collect, at least. Combine this with shockingly dumb enemy AI and an oppressive amount of aim assist, and most basic encounters end after a smattering of bullets and little tension. There are long stretches of road and entire neighborhoods without enemies or points of interest, and groups of cultists and vampires are often incredibly easy to spot. Redfall’s entire world feels dead, and not in the on-brand, reanimated corpse type of way. All told, Redfall is a neat place to explore. A highlight is clearing vampire nests, which teleport you to twisted versions of the town, providing a welcome break from the idyllic landscapes. Missions are structured to slowly reveal new areas of the map, and along the way there are safe houses to unlock, side stories to uncover and special vampires to vanquish. While this is definitely not Prey or Dishonored, Arkane’s DNA runs through Redfall, and the map contains a variety of locales sprinkled with world-building lore - abandoned churches and homes, lootable shops, spooky mansions, hiking trails, farmland, an amusement park. The campaign is spread across two maps, a suburban center and a historic district, each with a distinct vibe. It's a shame that the game couldn't have launched with these improvements, but it will be interesting to see how the developers respond to fan feedback in the weeks and months ahead. Maybe one such update could also make the "Low" Input Response Preset the default setting to save new players some time. We know that Redfall updates will eventually add a 60 fps performance mode, and while not set in stone, it's possible that the online-only requirement will be removed at some point as well. There are future updates planned for Redfall that will hopefully improve the experience to something that's more in line with Arkane's standards. Hopefully this is addressed in a future update. This means that co-op players have to go back through missions they've already completed if they decide to ever play on their own. For some bizarre reason, only the host player in Redfall co-op retains mission progression. ![]() One major area where Redfall is lacking is its co-op progression. ![]() As Redfall reviews have pointed out, there are a multitude of other issues with the game, which is disappointing considering Arkane's track record of otherwise high quality releases. While this setting change should improve one's experience in Redfall, it's far from the game's only problem. Under General, change Input Response Preset from Default to Low.Then click Settings, Controller, and under General, change Input Response Preset from Default to Low. Simply press start/the Menu button to go to the System menu. This can be done before one even selects their Redfall character. As pointed out by Xbox insider Klobrille, Redfall players should change their Input Response Preset to low. Redfall is expected to get a 60 fps option at some point after launch, but in the meantime, there's a settings change players can make to improve their experience in the short-term. RELATED: Redfall Is Getting Review Bombed This is an odd restriction for a first-person shooter and as one might imagine, it's something that's been fueling some of the negativity aimed at Redfall. It was confirmed before the game even launched that Redfall would be releasing without a performance mode, meaning that the frame rate is stuck at 30 fps. Redfall reviews have been mostly negative so far, with many complaints centered on the game's story and performance. Unfortunately, while there were some high expectations for Redfall considering the studio's previous work, it seems the co-op vampire shooter has failed to live up to expectations. Arkane's Redfall is finally available for Xbox gamers to try, having launched as a day one Xbox Game Pass game. ![]() Redfall players who want the optimal experience with the game will want to make an important change to their settings right away.
